Komatsu South is located in Gion, an area filled with sightseeing spots and eateries ranging from laidback cafes to Michelin-starred establishments.

 This first-floor unit is one of four apartments in the townhouse. Designed to be your home base in Kyoto whether your stay lasts for a few days or a few months, all units come with wi-fi, heated flooring, a fully-equipped kitchenette, and a washing machine and dryer.

 Both of the 2-bedroom apartments are light and modern yet recognizably Japanese in their use of wood, tatami and handmade paper. Facing the dining area is a feature wall that reinvents the tokonoma, the decorative alcove that serves as the focus of a traditional Japanese room.   

 The Japanese bedroom of this unit – the other is Western in style – comes with a built-in desk that can double up as a window seat for you to enjoy the garden outside.

 Komatsu South also features a rooftop deck and an outdoor tea ceremony space. E-mail us if you would like to book this space for an event or private function, or if you would like us to organise a traditional tea session for you. This space can also be rented by guests who do not stay in the machiya.
